MGCB Authorizes Two New Casino Content Providers From Light & Wonder

Latest News

The Michigan Gaming Control Board, the state regulatory agency for all things casino and sports betting, recently approved two new content providers, Authentic Gaming and Playzido.

Despite having some of the most diverse online casino games of any US state, Michigan regulators continue to give players more ways to enjoy their favorite casino games from the comfort of their homes.

Light and Wonder Gains Access for Playzido

Playzido, a gaming platform from the well-known gaming developer, Light & Wonder, recently gained its own B2B supplier license. Current state-licensed casino providers can now begin forming contracts with Playzido, giving their players more games to choose from on their platform.

Should Playzido experience success in Michigan, Light and Wonder will likely want to take the brand across the country.

“This new license for Playzido in Michigan is a significant moment for us in terms of creation and delivering content that truly appeals to players in the state,” said Dan Jackel, Head of US Commercial at Light & Wonder. “Playzido’s platform is rightly regarded as one of the industry’s strongest and has already enjoyed enormous success in Europe. Everyone at Light & Wonder is ecstatic to harness the Playzido technology to bring next-level studios and games to our operator partners and players in Michigan to enjoy.”

Authentic Gaming Also Gains Approval

A Malta-based igaming company known as Authentic Gaming is making its North American debut thanks to a partnership with the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The MGCB has authorized the online casino content creator to provide real-time live casino table games to players in the Great Lake State.

Authentic Gaming is another subsidiary of Light & Wonder. The company acquired Authentic Gaming in November 2021. The unique part of Authentic Gaming’s offerings is their live dealer games.

Authentic Gaming is just the third gaming provider authorized in Michigan to provide online live dealer games. The other two providers, Playtech and Evolution have had market access since 2023.

The new online live gaming provider will conduct operations out of a live studio in Farmington Hills. The MGCB recently visited the studio and determined the company had followed all regulatory requirements. The license was awarded on October 5th, with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians gaining access to Authentic’s live gaming platform first.

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will feature Authentic’s live games on the Golden Nugget Casino app, while the Little River Band will use BetRivers and the Rush Street Interactive platform. For now, Authentic Gaming will feature live blackjack, roulette, and baccarat.

“We have worked incredibly hard to create a studio and live product that we believe will have a major impact on the online casino market across the United States. It is fantastic to have reached the stage where we are able to go live with the product through the industry leading online casino portfolio at BetRivers in Michigan. Ours is a premium, bespoke offering that we believe will resonate strongly with players across the U.S. and this launch represents a key stage in our growth journey,” said Authentic Gaming founder, Jonas Delin in a statement.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams commented on the development, stating, “Live dealer online casino table games offer an immersive and engaging gambling experience that combines the convenience of online gaming with the authenticity of the enjoyment in a land-based casino. Players can enjoy the excitement of playing their favorite casino games with real dealers in real-time, all from the comfort of their home or wherever they may be.”
