The only NASCAR Cup Series race in Michigan is almost here. Consisting of over 200 laps on the two-mile (3.2 km) Michigan International Speedway racetrack, the 2023 FireKeepers Casino 400 is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM ET on Sunday, August 7th.
About Michigan International Speedway
The Michigan International Speedway is located in Brooklyn, Michigan. The race this Sunday marks the 105th race hosted at the Speedway. The track was first opened in 1969 with its first Cup Series race won by Cale Yarborough. Arguably the best driver at MIS was David Pearson, with 9 total wins over his career. Most recently, Kevin Harvick has been dominating at MIS, winning six of the last eight Michigan races. The 2023 FireKeepers Casino 400 is the 23rd race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Drivers We’re Keeping an Eye On
As previously mentioned, Kevin Harvick’s (+800) impressive record makes him an obvious pick for this weekend. We’re also keeping our eyes on Denny Hamlin (+700) and Kyle Larson (+700). Hamlin had a controversial win over Larson two weeks ago and almost won in Richmond last week. Kyle Larson has some impressive wins under his belt in Michigan. Most recently, Larson won three races in a row at the Michigan International Speedway between 2016 and 2017. Larson has finished 3rd in two out of his three previous races at MIS.
How to Wager on the FireKeepers Casino 400?
If you are a race fan interested in sports betting or have tried sports wagering before but have never wagered on a race, you may benefit from learning the basics of betting on NASCAR races.
Find a Safe Sports Betting Website
The first step is to find a safe, reliable sports betting platform to place your wager. Any of our partners on our site are verified and can be trusted to safely complete sports betting transactions.
Understanding the Different Betting Options
Every sport offers different wagering options, and NASCAR races are no different. When visiting an online sportsbook, you will generally notice three main ways to bet on NASCAR races: a Win Bet, a Place Bet, and a Show Bet.
The win bet is the simplest form of wagering on races. A win bet is a wager placed on the driver you suspect will take home the win that day.
A place bet allows you to predict that a driver will finish in either first or second place, while a show bet allows you to bet on a driver you believe will finish first, second, or third.
Individual Race Matchups and Prop Bets
Many sportsbooks and daily fantasy sites feature head-to-head matchups and prop bets. A head-to-head matchup often features a group of three to four drivers and bettors wager on who they believe will finish the highest. Prop bets are similar to other prop bets found across the sports industry. DraftKings, for example, has a prop bet for the manufacturer of the winning car for a given race. Other prop bets include: who will lead the most laps, how many caution flags, and even which driver will hit the pit first. The options vary from sportsbook to sportsbook.
As with every type of sports betting or casino gambling, know your limits, set a budget, and play responsibly. Never wager more than you can lose, and know when it’s time to stop chasing losses.
