Michigan Athletics Department Announces New Improvements Coming To Michigan Stadium

The Big House in Ann Arbor is set to receive new additions in the form of new scoreboards by the 2023 college football season. 

The University of Michigan Athletics Department released new renderings of the planned improvements via a news release on their website which can be found by clicking here

The statement detailed that the Michigan Stadium would receive new video boards at each endzone after the 2022 season. The scoreboards would substantially increase the size of the current scoreboards. 

The announcement came Tuesday, October 18th, 2022.

Other Improvements

The scoreboards aren’t the only improvements coming to the Michigan Stadium next season. The press release details other additions that are set to be made by the Michigan Athletic Department. Two additional columns will be added to both endzone scoreboards to accommodate the larger screen. 

The Crisler Center control room and production studio is also receiving equipment upgrades. Michigan detailed how, “The Crisler Center control room and production studio is a critical piece for all on-campus athletic events, serving in-game and off-season needs for Michigan Stadium, Crisler Center, Yost Ice Arena, Ocker Field, Ray Fisher Stadium and Alumni Field, the U-M Soccer Stadium and the South Campus Performance Center, which houses indoor track and field, among other teams.” The Michigan Sports Television (MSTV), which covers all 29 varsity programs at the University, is also created in the Crisler Center control room and production studio. 

According to the article release, the project is being funded entirely by the Michigan Athletic Department thanks to gifts to Michigan Athletics intended specifically for capital improvements.
